Arvind Adarkar, founder of Adarkar Associates, graduated in 1971 from Sir J. J. College of Architecture, Bombay University.  In 1975 he started his own practice in architectural and interior consultancy in Mumbai.  Joined by Neera Adarkar and Arun Kale as partners in the early 80s, the firm now is known an Adarkar Associates which handles various project in and out of Mumbai. Arvind has designed several architectural and interior projects in and out of Mumbai.

 

 

 

 

 

Arvind Adarkar’s expertise on Mumbai city’s local history and on the Urban Development issues relating to the Housing and Development Policies of Mumbai and of the State, has been a great resource to various organizations and movements engaged with the critical issues of the city. Associated with many organizations, Arvind Adarkar was appointed a member on the ‘High Power Committee of Government of Maharashtra on formation of Long Term Policy for Housing Urban Poor ‘.

After being a visiting faculty for the architectural design studio in the three major colleges of architecture in the city for over 20 years, in 2006 Arvind Adarkar was invited to take up the posts of Joint Director, Academy of Architecture, and as the Director of a Post-Graduate course in Urban Studies in Rachana Sansad institute.

Invited in India and abroad to present papers and deliver lectures on various aspects of the urban development, environment and sustainable development, Arvind Adarkar has written several articles, contributed to regular columns and has been extensively quoted in the print media of the city. He has also been invited very often on the electronic media as an urban planning expert to express his views.
